about me and my teaching style
I have been practising Kundalini Yoga since 2005 and in 2009 completed my teacher training at the Kundalini Yoga Headquarters in Espanola, New Mexico, USA. This was the home of Yogi Bhajan who bought Kundalini Yoga to the West from India in the 70’s.
The style of my classes are light hearted even though we do some very deep work. Each week the class is completely different, sometimes it will be high energy and quite challenging and other weeks it can be much less physically demanding and perhaps more mental and emotional stamina required.
I love kundalini yoga for the variety it offers and no two classes are ever the same.
I encourage you during the session to push your own boundaries for growth but always with mindful modifications provided - as even I have had spinal fusion surgery so know first hand how we need to work to our own personal limits. So never feel that you have to be flexible or have a certain level of fitness to attend these classes.
Kundalini Yoga is very adaptable, and suitable for all, so do put aside any reservations you may have before you come to try it out. I also avoided yoga in the beginning thinking I would not be able to do it 'properly'!
This style is different to what you may have seen elsewhere and we do not need to be so "bendy and stretchy" as I put it. Its more about generating internal energies and strengthening other parts of ourselves not just a focus on the physical form.
Experience
I have held weekly classes now since 2009 in a variety of environments and wide range of clientele; from leisure centres, colleges, outdoor events, schools, corporate venues, carehomes and for 7 years at the gurdwara
So I have experience of helping you to get the most out of your practice, whatever it is you are looking for. Countless people I have met along the way have been touched deeply by these profound and powerful teachings, which still keeps me passionate and enthusiastic to keep sharing just as much now as when I first began. Several of my past students have also gone on to become teachers themselves and then also inspired their own students to do the same, literally quoting it has changed their lives.
I am fully insured and certified, a member of the professional body - Kundalini Yoga Teachers Assocation (KYTA www.kundaliniyoga.org.uk)I have also previously worked in the fitness industry as a weight training / fitness instructor.
I studied Thai Yoga Massage in Thailand in 1995.
My name is Sharon
but I also go by Sat Meher Kaur meaning "princess of compassion, kindness and mercy"
These spiritual names are calculated by a method Yogi Bhajan gave, which includes numerology related to your date of birth, so these given names are very personal and reflect your own path and destiny.
Personal Focus
I tend to work on an embodiment principle of spirituality, so remain very much grounded, always seeking truth and authenticity. So within my classes I always have to 'keep it real' and relatable.
